hey sundragon, i really love your enviormental paintings, theyre really inspireing, im working on my portfolio and was wondering is it wrong to use textures to reach an idea? i noticed you used photos to add texture, and they helpt alot when trying to achieve a design or idea. So is it ok to use photos to texture anything from enviormental to character design?
Yeah I use photos and textures, often to speed up my process. Sometimes is better to paint, sometimes you can achieve a similar result with a photo in alot less time. It really is down to the indvidual, but I'd advise you to be adaptive. Keep drawing and painting (traditional or digital) as those are skills that underly any good photo/texture work.
Ok, I'm in love with this one! hehehe! Fantastic light values and the texturing is just perfect for this sort of theme! Great colors all around to give it a nice subterranean feel with ancient carvings and natural bits hanging around! Absolutely stunning! I want to do stuff like this!
